Quick answer
Quick answer
Open World is the free-roam mode: the manual gives access to available ships, harbors and regions, with adjustable conditions and optional missions.

Use it as a training space
Choose conditions suited to the skill you want to practice. Time, weather and visibility can be changed in this mode. A calm harbor session can focus on camera and docking controls; more demanding conditions let you examine how the ship reacts. This is a suggested practice plan, not a required mission sequence.
Guide notes
Missions still have a role
Available tasks depend on the selected vessel and are offered through the radio communication menu. The manual says Open World missions award XP. Free exploration therefore does not mean every mission works with every ship or that you must follow Career’s starting path.

Available content depends on the build
“All ships” in the mode description means ships available in that build. It does not override the RC 1717 warning about the Medium Trawler and Container Feeder. Check the current boat list and release notes if a vessel you expected is missing.
